My publisher is Blurb. Let me rephrase that: I am self-published. “My publisher is blurb” means I control what I create. Blurb’s self-publishing website has set the standards for an online book revolution, and it has only grown in popularity over the years. Blurb gives you the tools to create photo books, magazines, traditional trade books, and ebooks. They even offer a custom book selection where you further refine projects.
My Publisher, Blurb, makes it simple to print books directly from Instagram.
Among all of the private and public projects I’ve made with Blurb’s help, a small book of Instagram photos I keep for guests to browse through in my living room is my favorite piece I’ve produced with my flexible publisher. The book is not for public consumption. It’s for me, my memory, my friends, and family.
Blurb inspired my Instagram book, not the other way around. In addition to their robust output options, Blurb has created a special process which renders printing a book of images from your Instagram account as easy as 1, 2, 3. I never would have thought of publishing one. I’ve been an avid Instagram user for years. One day I noticed Blurb offered a simply way to create an Instagram book. I gave it a shot, and it became my favorite book project.
Instagram, my little Instagram book, and my publisher, Blurb itself, are all three major testaments to the magic properties of snapshots, and photographs in general. Photographs have always been Blurb’s special thing. A few other online publishing sites do good work for self-published books of printed text. Blurb has always been touted as the top choice for self-published photography books.
All of this and more is why my publisher is Blurb. I’m free to publish what I want to publish. I’m not famous, not an expert, and certainly no academic. Yet I can now play with publishing my own books, line them up on a shelf, and feel a deep sense of accomplishment.
